Amid protests against federal immigration enforcement, MIRS talks to two Michigan sources. Alicia Guevara of the Early Childhood Investment Corporation talks about concerns of a "chilling effect" on childcare and early learning participation due to fears of ICE arrests outside facilities (3:09).
On the other hand, Diane Schindlbeck, a Newaygo County Republican, talks about her small business being targeted because of her personal support of immigration and law enforcement (24:05).
MIRS also talks with Dr. Minal Patel, a University of Michigan professor, about medical debt, and policy efforts around Lansing to try minimizing its effects on Michigan residents (41:00).

Why didn’t Samantha ask Diane what was on the so called Border Patrol pizza? That might have helped listeners understand how depraved it is. Harassment and threats are not the acceptable and are not a productive response to this vile business. Never. Given all the people being hurt and killed as the Border Patrol sweeps up citizens and immigrants following our legal process to become citizens, babies and children to the elderly…. Creating a pizza with refried beans, jalapenos, ground meat and other Mexican type foods and calling it Border Patrol is in very poor taste at best and depraved at worst. Try telling a complete sketch of a situation like a journalist should so listeners can make their own judgment based on the full picture. Patriotism looks more like demanding that our people receive the protections of the Bill of Rights and our Constitution. Wrapping yourselves in the flag while flouting guaranteed rights is mere trumpery. Do better.
